Design process for the NYSE handheld
Not long ago on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), traders moved from selling station to selling station throughout the day, lugging heavy tablets, personal digital assistants and paper notepads to communicate with their brokers. The NYSE sought a way to improve the usability of the devices and contacted the IBM design and engineering group. The challenge was to marry a set of client specifications with available technology and dynamic user needs. Learn about the iterative design process of this solution and gain insight into the way IBM designers approach complex technical and business problems while keeping the needs of the end-users in sight.

Nora Denzel has over 14 years of experience in engineering, marketing and executive management in the software industry. She currently serves as CTO and senior vice president of Legato Systems, Inc. In this capacity she directs all of Legato System's engineering, product management and technical support. Prior to joining Legato Systems, Denzel was Director of IBM's entire set of storage management software products.
Denzel has been recognized by the YWCA of Santa Clara County with a Tribute to Women in Industry award for her contributions to IBM's software products and also by Storage, Inc. magazine as one of the Top 20 Storage Movers and Shakers in 1998. She is a frequent public speaker and is committed to mentoring young executives in high tech careers through the W.O.M.E.N. Unlimited Program.

The center’s mission is to assist IBM Global Services sales and marketing teams in accelerating sales cycles, closing new contracts and expanding scope of existing contracts.
